Military Child Care

National Military Family Association

This resource provides advice and information for families of the service who have been wounded or ill during their term of service. They offer a variety of programs including the Military Spouse Scholarships and Operation Purple Program Camp. They also provide a lot of information about everything your family could need, including adoption, child care, marriage and divorce, family leave, deployment, and more. WoVen

WoVen is a network of military women. This site provides a place of connection for women who have experienced what it’s like to be in the military. They offer a peer mentoring program where you can volunteer to be a peer leader or be mentored. There also are several groups all over the country for chances to be a part of a national social network. WoVen teaches women how to transition through life, balance different aspects of life, relieve stress, build connections, healthy living, and esteem building. Dog Tag Bakery is a bakery that helps veterans learn how to run a business while at the same time providing them work opportunities. This organization specifically assists veterans with disabilities by offering an education at Georgetown University. When veterans complete the Dog Tag Inc. program, these transitioned veterans are ready for business, both employable and competitive. Operation Home Front

Operation Home Front is an emergency assistance program for veterans and their families who are experiencing a last minute financial emergency. Operation Home Front provides financial, legal and other assistance towards their service members and wounded warriors. Their goal is to help families thrive in their communities by providing them the necessary resources. They offer financial assistance, housing and veteran caregiver support, along with family events. If you are not in need, they also have a major donation platform where you and your family can give to other families who may need that support.

Addiction Group – Veterans

The Addiction Group is a group dedicated to help individuals suffering from substance abuse and prevent new cases through credible information and spreading awareness to as many as they can reach. Veterans are at extreme risk for developing an addiction. The Addiction Group provides many resources for veterans, as well as statistics for addiction. Dental Care Resources for Veterans 

Dental care is extremely important, but it can be difficult for veterans to find that care. Give an hour provides free and confidential regular mental health care to veterans and their families. Both veterans and their families may suffer from feelings of PTSD, depression, stress, and anxiety, to name a few. Instead of suffering from this alone, Give an Hour provides resources to find mental health professionals that meet your needs. This resource helps to connect you and your family to mental health professionals in your area. They operate off their three pillars: Access to care, Culture Change, and Mental Health Literacy. Diverse Health Services

Diverse Health Services provides many home health services for veterans and their families. Veterans’ health may decline so severely that they require extreme assistance. If you are overwhelmed by the amount of attention and assistance that your veteran needs, you can reach out to Diverse Health Services. We offer the following services:

  • Help with Bathing
  • Help with Dressing
  • Medication Reminders
  • Transportation
  • Respite Care
  • Light Housekeeping
  • Laundry
  • Companionship
  • Meal Preparation.
  • Transferring to and from bed
  • Additional services – including help to access other community resources to improve your quality of life.

You are eligible for these services if you served during one of the *VA Defined War Periods:

  • Military : Are you a veteran or the surviving spouse of a veteran who served at least 90 days on active duty, at least one day during wartime*, with an honorable discharge?
  • Medical : Do you have a non service-connected medical condition causing you to need assistance with activities of daily living?
  • Money : Do you have limited income and assets? (Your home and car are exempt.)
